The ELECTRO–TYFON® MT 150/130 is an electrically driven piston ship’s whistle. It features minimal moving parts, a “swinging piston,” a cylinder that requires no lubrication, and an oil-free gearbox.

All-Temperature Operation

The ELECTRO–TYFON® MT 150/130 delivers high performance in both arctic and tropical climates. Its patented system, featuring a high-efficiency rectangular horn and a specially designed motor, automatically adjusts the motor speed to match the horn’s acoustic resonance, regardless of ambient temperature. This ensures the whistle remains unaffected by onboard voltage and frequency fluctuations.

 

Unsymmetrical Sound Distribution

IMO Regulations demand a high Sound Pressure Level for effective signaling, but the sound level at the vessel’s listening posts should not exceed 110 dBA. To solve this, the whistle is typically placed high above the deck. However, if the highest point is insufficient, doubling the distance between the listening post and the whistle can reduce noise by 6 dB.
