EGR Water Treatment
EGR Water Treatment – Products
Improving by removing. Cleaning both bilge and EGR bleed-off water with effective flocculation technology.
The CD EGR for EGR bleed-off and bilge water offers a streamlined approach to minimize equipment, installation, operational cost and CO2 footprint. While bilge water and EGR bleed-off water fall under different MARPOL Annexes, necessitating segregation, our system ensures they remain separate. This includes distinct holding tanks and sludge tanks. System segregation valves prevent any mixing, including the sludge generated during treatment. The class-approved automated switch-over sequence, managed by system automation, ensures seamless operation. rom the control panel, the operator can effortlessly choose the waste stream for treatment, the recorder or WhiteBox® (optional), oversee, record and segregate the vital discharge parameters, ensuring accurate record-keeping as mandated.
Process description: The CD-unit can take suction from either the EGR bleed-off tank or the Bilge water holding tank. Three three-way valves connected to a selector switch secure that the waste streams are never mixed. The EGR bleed-off water is collected in a bleed-off water drain tank of a cascade type. The tank should be equipped with heating coils to heat the bleed-off water to 40-55 °C, solid sensors that will detect solidification of soot. The system must have segregated sludge tanks as per the Marpol requirements. The wastewater is treated overboard through a WhiteBox® by the CD unit and all vital system data such as tank levels, valve positions, oil content, discharged volume etc. is recorded and logged in the WhiteBox® recorder.

Marinfloc introduces the WTS, engineered for seamless integration with MAN-ES EGR system. Building on two decades of industry experience, we utilize the proven Marinfloc flocculation process to ensure that the WTS not only meets but exceeds operational expectations. Crafted from robust stainless steel, it stands as a testament to durability and precision. To further empower ship crews, we’ve embedded intuitive digital functionalities for streamlined documentation. And for those navigating with MAN-ES engines, the WTS offers the added versatility of doubling as an efficient bilge water separator. A blend of innovation, reliability, and performance – that’s the Marinfloc promise.
MAN-ES EGR Technology: MAN Energy Solutions’ Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is a proven method to reduce NOx emissions. By reintroducing a portion of the exhaust gas back into the engine, it ensures vessels remain compliant with environmental regulations.
WTS Integration Options with MAN-ES EGR:
1. Standalone EGR Bleed-off Water Treatment: Specifically designed to treat the bleed-off water from the EGR system, ensuring optimal water quality and regulatory compliance.
2. Combined EGR and Bilge Water Treatment (WTS–>CD-EGR): A dual-purpose solution that integrates wastewater treatment from the EGR system with bilge water separation. This can either be purchased as a combined unit or the standalone WTS can be upgraded to ensure compliance with necessary regulations for bilge water separation.
A Tailored Solution for Modern Vessels: Marinfloc’s WTS for MAN-ES EGR systems provides shipowners with the flexibility to select a solution that best fits their operational requirements, whether it’s standalone wastewater treatment or an integrated approach with the necessary upgrades for bilge water separation.

Marinfloc introduces the WTS, engineered for seamless integration with WinGD iCER system. The iCER technology, with its focus on reducing methane slip and fuel consumption, aligns perfectly with Marinfloc’s commitment to sustainability and efficiency.
WinGD’s iCER Technology: The Intelligent Control through Exhaust Recycling (iCER) is WinGD’s innovative solution for their X-DF2.0 engines. This low-pressure recirculation concept is tailored for the X-DF Otto cycle engine technology, offering benefits like reduced fuel consumption, minimized methane slip, and enhanced combustion stability. With the maritime industry moving towards stricter environmental regulations, the iCER technology anticipates future needs, ensuring compliance and sustainability.
Benefits of Integrating WTS with iCER: Marinfloc’s WTS, when integrated with WinGD’s iCER technology, offers a holistic solution for wastewater treatment. The system ensures that the water treated aligns with the environmental benefits of the iCER technology, further reducing the environmental footprint of the vessel. This combined approach ensures that shipowners not only meet regulatory requirements but also contribute significantly to maritime sustainability.
Adaptable and Cost-Effective
Unlike conventional systems that operate at fixed capacities, the WTS system stands out with its adaptability. It can automatically adjust its overboard discharge capacity in line with water generation, ensuring a consistent supply of treated water to the iCER system. Managed by the Discharge Control Unit tailored for the WIN GD application, this adaptability not only reduces energy consumption and consumable use but also minimizes the CO2 footprint, making it a cost-effective solution for shipowners and operators.
